Do home bakers and home kitchens need FSSAI?
Yes. Anyone preparing and selling food, even from home, needs at least a Basic FSSAI Registration. Delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato also require it.
What is the difference between FSSAI registration and license?
Basic registration is for small businesses with turnover up to ₹12 lakh. Businesses above this need a State or Central License, which involves more documents and may include an inspection.
How long is the FSSAI license valid?
You can choose a validity of 1 to 5 years. It must be renewed before it expires to avoid late fees and disruption.
I sell food products on Amazon or Flipkart. Which license do I need?
Online sellers need a license based on their turnover and activity. The marketplace itself needs a Central License, while sellers usually need a Basic Registration or State License.
